How to ask customers for reviews on WhatsApp (with ready messages)

Short answer

Ask on WhatsApp on the day the order arrives, while the customer is happy and the chat is still open. Send one short, personal message with a single link, tell them what to mention, and remind them once after two or three days. Ask every customer, not only the ones you think were happy.

Why WhatsApp is the best place to ask

Your customers already talk to you on WhatsApp. They placed the order there, sent the address there and told you when it arrived. A review request in the same chat feels like part of the conversation, not like an advert.

It also reaches them on the phone in their hand. A message on WhatsApp is read; a post asking "please leave us a review" is scrolled past.

When to ask

The best moment is right after the customer has used what they bought, while they still remember how it felt.

  • Food and cakes: the same evening, or the next morning after the party.
  • Clothes and jewellery: a day or two after delivery, once they have tried it on.
  • Beauty and skincare: after the first few uses, not on the day it arrives.
  • Services: the same day the work is done.

Don't ask before the order arrives, and don't wait two weeks. By then the feeling has gone and the chat has moved down the list.

What to write

Keep it short and personal: their name, what they ordered, one link, and a thank you. Here is a message you can use:

Message you can copy
Assalam o alaikum Zara! I hope you all enjoyed the chocolate cake. If you have a minute, a quick review would help my small business a lot: reviewdou.pk/r/8KQ2XM Thank you so much for ordering!

Many customers prefer Roman Urdu. The same message:

Message you can copy
Assalam o alaikum Zara! Umeed hai chocolate cake sab ko pasand aaya hoga. Agar ek minute ho to ek chhota sa review meri bohat madad karega: reviewdou.pk/r/8KQ2XM Order karne ka bohat shukriya!

Use their real name and the real item. A copied message that says "Dear customer" gets ignored.

Make it easy to say yes

  • One link, one step. "Go to my Instagram, find the post and comment" loses most people on the way.
  • Tell them what to mention. "How was the taste, the packing and the delivery?" helps a customer who doesn't know what to write.
  • Photos are welcome. A picture of the cake on the table says more than any caption.
  • Don't ask for five stars. Ask for an honest review. People can tell the difference, and so can the next customer.

Remind once, then stop

If there's no reply after two or three days, send one gentle reminder:

Message you can copy
Hi Zara, just a small reminder about the review, only if you have a minute. Thank you!

After that, leave it. A second reminder feels like pressure, and an unhappy customer is the last thing a review request should create.

Mistakes that cost you trust

  • Offering a discount for a good review. It turns reviews into payments, and buyers stop believing them.
  • Writing reviews yourself or asking friends. One fake review found out undoes every real one.
  • Asking only the customers you think were happy. A page with only perfect ratings looks less believable, not more.
  • Collecting reviews as chat screenshots. They are easy to fake, so buyers call them fake, even when they are real.

Where to keep the reviews

Screenshots scattered across highlights don't help a new customer decide. What helps is one link with every review in one place, where the buyer can see each review came from a real person.

On a free Reviewdou page, every reviewer confirms their phone number with a code. You can create a personal link for each order with the WhatsApp message already written in English or Roman Urdu, and those reviews get an "Ordered from" badge. You can't edit or delete reviews, but you can reply. Here is how we check reviews.

Questions people ask

What should I say when asking a customer for a review?

Greet them by name, mention what they ordered, add one link and say thank you. Ask for an honest review, not a five-star one, and tell them what to mention, such as taste, packing or delivery.

When is the best time to ask for a review?

Right after the customer has used what they bought: the same evening for food, a day or two after delivery for clothes and jewellery, and after a few uses for beauty products.

Is it okay to give a discount in exchange for a review?

Not for a good review. Buyers stop trusting reviews that were paid for. If you want to thank customers, do it for every order, whatever they write.

What if the customer doesn't reply?

Send one short reminder after two or three days, then leave it. Some customers will review later on their own, and pushing harder risks an unhappy customer.

Should I ask in English or Urdu?

Use the language you already chat in with that customer. Reviewdou writes the review request for you in English or Roman Urdu.
